The first glimpses of “Honeymoon States”, co-written by Jesse Armstrong and Lucy Prebble, are its best: Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin) and Shiv (Sarah Snook), looking forlorn and tiny in their gleaming, sterile apartments. This episode, which takes place entirely inside the surprisingly poky rooms of Logan’s pad, respects that time-honoured tradition, as the patriarch’s last wishes flame through Succession’s present. The juiciest element, aside from the funeral outfits, which will presumably pop up soon, is the reading of the will. And it’s hard to recall an on-screen death as seismic as Logan Roy’s, not least because of Brian Cox’s towering screen presence. The remaining characters are left to sort through the emotional fall-out, lines are redrawn, new personalities emerge. In television, death is an adrenalin shot.
